Week 20

 Dear Parents and Students,

We’ve had our first full regular week in what seems to be a very long time, and in Grade 4, we have worked our way back into our regular routines.

In the Classroom:

Maths

We have almost completed Topic 10, which has shown us how to find equivalent fractions and fractions in simplest forms, and how to convert improper fractions into mixed numbers and back again. We will spend Tuesday’s lesson reviewing the topic before the Topic Test on Wednesday.

Literacy Workshop

We have continued with our Reading Circles activities, and some very interesting discussions have taken place about our current story, My Name Is María Isabel. In English grammar, we have continued with our study of adjectives.

Science

We continued our study of energy, motion, and inertia this week by extending our model

roller coasters and observing how energy can be stored as height. We related our findings

to what we have discovered over the past two lessons, and we will further review what we have learned on Monday.

Social Studies

We have almost completed our study of the American Northeast, and we will spend the first few lessons next week reviewing what we have learned. We will then sit an open-book test on Thursday.

Other important information

Clubs begin again next week, and buses and taxis will depart at the regular club-day times.

Dates to remember:

Mon Jan 15: Clubs resume

Wed Jan 17: Math test - Topic 10
