Dear Parents and Students,
We have had another eventful week, with Grades 1, 3, and 5 impressing us all with very entertaining and informative presentations for the International Expo. We all had a taste of different cultures and regions, starting in Argentia, and then moving to Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Ireland. A big thank you goes out to all of the students, teachers, and staff for all of the hard work that was put in to create such an enjoyable morning. It was also great to see so many parents visiting. For those of you who couldn’t make it to the Expo, photos can be found via the link at the bottom of this post.
In the Classroom:
Maths
We have continued with our study of customary units, including pints, quarts, gallons, ounces, pounds and tons. After the break, we will focus on metric units of length, capacity, and mass, and we will also review what we know about units of time.
Literacy Workshop
We have completed the entire story of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and spent the latter part of the week creating our own tributes to the book. We completed the week with our Mad Tea Party on Friday. After the break, we will begin our next major writing assignment: Writing an Opinion.
Science
We completed our final practical investigation of sound energy this week. After the Spring Break, we will begin our investigations into light energy. We also continued with our weekly Science Fair conferences to make sure that everyone is up to date and on schedule.
Social Studies
We completed and reviewed Chapter 8 this week, and previewed Chapter 9, which is an
investigation of what the American Midwest is like today. We will continue with Chapter 9
after the break..
